Flagstaff Holiday Activities and Events

0

With the holidays just around the corner, local families and visitors alike are starting to plan fun holiday activities. And luckily, Flagstaff offers a lot of original local holiday events. I have compiled a list below of some of the best (but certainly not all!) holiday attractions in Flagstaff and the surrounding area.

Grand Canyon Railway’s Polar Express

This one I have not actually done myself yet, but sure hope to this year. It is based out of the Grand Canyon train station in Williams and every year they convert the train into a winter wonderland. You board the train in the evening and it takes you to Santa and his reindeer at the North Pole. Along the way, you listen to old tales of Santa while eating cookies and drinking hot chocolate. Tip – PJs not required, but highly recommended! Check out their website for ticket prices and times.

Little America Holiday of Lights

Have you driven by the Little America Hotel countless times and seen the beautiful lights they put up each year during the holidays? Well, there is a special lighting ceremony on November 16th complete with Carolers, a visit from Santa and much more! This event is free to the public and even offers a shuttle service from different locations so you don’t have to worry about parking. And if you miss the lighting ceremony, you can still stop by any night during the holiday season to walk to grounds and enjoy the lights.

The North Pole Experience

This is another must-do based out of the Little America Hotel. My family and I went last year and hope to make it a yearly tradition. You begin at the hotel where you board a bus and are transported through a magic portal to the North Pole to Santa’s workshop and toy headquarters. You get to visit all of the rooms in the workshop, eat cookies and drink hot chocolate, and meet Santa before returning to the portal and back to Flagstaff! Tip – see the Facebook page for chances to win tickets. Check out their website for ticket prices and times.

Holiday Parade of Lights

Every year in the historic downtown area, there is a super cute holiday light parade. It is made up of dozens of floats covered in thousands of twinkling lights complete with the arrival of Santa in his sleigh at the end! This year it is slated for Saturday, December 9th, at 6:00pm. Tip – we always like to to snag some hot chocolate and churros from vendors along the parade route!
