The Junior Forester Academy strives to “nurture the love in nature” in kids 9-10 years old. The NAU Centennial Forest invites campers to engage in hands-on lessons about bugs, trees, wilderness survival, and forest fires – all while making new friends! Activities include orienteering, making walking sticks, tie-dying camp shirts and learning to measure biodiversity and squirrel habitat. The curriculum is geared towards learning while having fun in the forest. One highlight of the week is the annual “Bioblitz” where kids work with scientists to discover and identify every living organism they can find on our 120 acre forest. Campers enjoy staying overnight on NAU’s research forest in large canvas tents with up to 6 of their fellow campers and one adult counselor. Staff are background checked, CPR/First Aid certified (adult to child ratio of 1:7) and we host a maximum of 28 campers each week. Please join us this summer for Nature, Science and Fun on the NAU Forest!
